What the research shows
Human research on a combination
A vehicle-controlled trial assigned 202 women aged 40 to 60 to morning SPF 15 lotion and evening cream with 2% N-acetyl glucosamine plus 4% niacinamide, or to their vehicles. After eight weeks of product use, the combination reduced measured pigmentation more than the vehicle regimen.
What this does not tell us
The trial tested a combination and included sunscreen. It cannot determine the contribution of N-acetyl glucosamine alone or establish the effect of another cosmetic.
