What the research shows
Human research on a combination
An open-label, single-arm study reported lower melasma scores after use of a cream with 3% arbutin, 4% nicotinamide, 1% bisabolol and 0.05% retinaldehyde.
What this does not tell us
There was no comparison group, and the abstract does not report sample size, duration or the arbutin isomer. The contribution of arbutin is unknown. This citation must not be assigned to alpha-arbutin or deoxyarbutin.
