What the research shows

Human topical research

Pigmentation measurements and grading decreased with 1% hexylresorcinol and 2% hydroquinone, with no significant between-treatment difference.

What this does not tell us

32 randomized women, 29 analyzed, 12 weeks and active comparison. A nonsignificant difference alone does not prove equivalence, and there was no vehicle arm.
