What the research shows

Human research on a combination

The retinoid-precursor blend and 0.02% tretinoin did not differ significantly in photoaging score, while the blend caused less erythema.

What this does not tell us

24 randomized, 20 analyzed White women; retinol and retinyl palmitate are co-actives, so no isolated retinyl-acetate effect. Small study without equivalence margin or vehicle control cannot prove equivalence.
