A closer look
What the research shows
Human exposure research
A three-month study of topical alpha-tocopherol acetate analysed skin and blood from 11 treated participants with actinic keratoses. It detected absorption into skin but did not detect conversion to free alpha-tocopherol.
What this does not tell us
The overall study enrolled 19 people across two treatments; this report focuses on 11. Absorption is not evidence of a cosmetic benefit, and the results do not allow free-tocopherol findings to be assigned to this ester.
