- Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane
Avobenzone combined with another filter reduced experimental UVA effects in people photosensitised with oral methoxsalen. The result does not isolate avobenzone or represent ordinary sunscreen use.
- Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate
An intensive-application trial measured absorption of octinoxate, also called ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, from tested sunscreen sprays. It does not establish clinical harm or the protective performance of another product.
- Homosalate
An intensive-application sunscreen trial measured homosalate absorption. This is exposure research, not a demonstration of clinical harm or an isolated test of sun protection.
- Octocrylene
A sunscreen trial measured octocrylene in blood after intensive application of complete formulas. Absorption alone does not establish harm or reduced benefit, and the authors state that these findings do not justify avoiding sunscreen.
- Titanium Dioxide
A human study measured UVA attenuation by microfine titanium dioxide preparations on skin. Particle size and formulation matter; the result does not establish another product's SPF or long-term prevention of skin damage.
